As a result of major efforts in management and restoration by the Michigan DNR, a unique Sturgeon fishery exists on the St. Clair River. Season runs mid July through September with the best time late August through September 30. Attached video happened September 9, 2010. Average size is 35" to 60" with a few exceeding 70" and 100 lbs. The Michigan state record is 83" and 193 lbs.

CATCH and Release
This is a catch and release fishery only. Although state regulation permits keeping one fish between 42" and 50", all sturgeon caught will be measured, photographed, and released. It is our goal to support all efforts to manage and further restore this fishery.
